What is Broadview Village?

Broadview Village is a non-profit organization that has been providing services to individuals with developmental disabilities for over 25 years. We provide a community-based environment that adobts a Christian lifestyle - ultimately "helping others to help themselves".

Residential Program

The Broadview Village Residential Program is carried out in 8 houses, which are located in established communities with the Greater Toronto Area. The community base offers residents access to stores, services, and social networks. Community living is supported by residential counselors. Residents participate in house programs, routines, and activities. Through the process of Individual Program Planning, residents are encouraged to maximize opportunities for personal growth. Broadview Village is committed to assisting residents in optimizing their abilities, quality of life and in pursuing their goals and personal dreams.

Our residential and day programs offer a stimulating and challenging environment that promotes self-worth and self-esteem.

Our programs

- Facilitate the development of personal social networks
- Create an accepting living atmosphere where learning can take place
- Support residents to become less dependent on others
- Assist individuals in following through with personal goals and decisions
- Encourage self-expression
- Promote the development of written, oral, and alternative communication
- Provides Christian education (developing a relationship with God)

Day Program

The day program is called the Broadview Village Enrichment Program (BVEP). Admission to the BVEP is open to those in the residential programs at Broadview Village as well as community participants.

BVEP provides activities that are tailored to the individual needs and abilities of each participant. Each day they do various activities to improve the participants motor skills, which includes beading, bowling, pegboards, etc. They practice pre-vocational tasks such as folding and sorting. They also build on communication and social skills as well as going on outings in the community. The Day Program participants make crafts and sell them at various events, including the Strawberry Fair each year.

Our Dedication

No one lies outside our ministry of caring. That's why The Salvation Army provides homes for people with special needs. We have developed high-quality support programs to help people with developmental challenges reach their potential. We provide supportive social networks and a link to the community. Our ministry units, affirmation love and optimism are part of the daily routine.
